The brief
When ORO2U approached us, we found a slow running e-commerce website that had an aging design & layout, was hard to navigate, didn’t have a parts finder to easily filter parts by vehicle and poor search facility. ORO2U felt they were losing sales and needed change. After an initial set of meetings, we were able to establish a clear understanding of the key business fundamentals and what was required to elevate their online business sales and overall customer experience.
The solution
Whilst it goes without saying that we were tasked with designing and building an e-commerce solution for ORO2U, there were several areas that required special attention in this build. Namely:
BMS integration
An end-to-end integration between their Orderwise business management system and Magento. Crucially, this is the operational backbone of the website controlling, stock synchronisation, product data management, pricing structure, order imports, customer records and shipping & fulfilment.
Parts Finder
We created a custom parts finder portal that provided ORO2U the ability to upload mass amounts of product data, which the portal then extracted the key product data and vehicle fitting information. We need more information written here. HELP PLEASE.
Elastic search
With the default MySQL search not quite cutting the mustard, we set about configuring an Elasticsearch. This advanced powerful search engine delivers fast, accurate, and scalable product search and catalog navigation.
Shipping rules
Whilst some e-commerce websites may only require a small amount of shipping rules due to inventory size and shipping locations, this was certainly not the case for a large powersports distributor like ORO2U. We had to create more than a 1,000 different shipping rules that would initiate different delivery couriers, triggered by factors of size, weight, date and time of delivery and global destination.

The results
From a customer point of view, the updated e-commerce website is easier to navigate, pages load faster (in no small part due to dedicated hosting, good coding practices and image CDN services) and the implementation of a parts finder and Elasticsearch makes finding vehicle specific products much easier. Not to mention a clear and easy checkout system.
